My first game-related memory is get knocked over the head by my brother when I was little. So, my mother drops this grey sandwhich toaster in front of us and, for two hours straight, my brother and I forgot about fighting to die relentlessly in Crash Bandicoot.
Since childhood I’ve never lost interest in video games. They weren’t just something to do, they were a break from life, they were an avenue to settle petty arguments, they were a source of fake glitches we spent days trying to trigger. They provided an experience that sticks with me in a way that is wholely unique to video games as a medium.
And as I’ve gotten older, the only thing that has changed is how much I appreciate what goes into these experiences and the amazing magic people have to work behind the scenes to get the crazy results I see every day. And like a kid before a magician, all I want to do is put on that silly hat and cape and show I can cut people in half too.
I just want to create that same magic that captivated me and my brother back then.
